I knew that the benefits (of anti-depressants over placebo) were surprisingly slight, but this meta-study (reported in the Guardian) shows that there's no benefit in almost all cases. As we know, drug companies basically don't publish trials whose results they don't like, which skews the apparent evidence.
Should there be some sort of legal requirement to publish all data? Imagine how much these (apparently ineffective) anti-depressants have cost the NHS, essentially due to mis-representation.
